NOTICE:
The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL) is now closed on Saturdays, effective January 1, 2005, due to low use and to increase efficiency of operations. The Library is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except holidays.
Approximately 87 percent of WTBBL consumers reach the library by telephone. The results of a recent study of incoming calls showed that Saturdays are our least busy day; we receive only 3 percent of all our calls on Saturdays.
No jobs will be eliminated because of the change in operating hours. However, the change will enable staff members to redirect their attention toward improving services during the week.
The public is encouraged to use one or more of the following service options in 2005:
- Contact WTBBL from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday;
- Visit the Library Web site at www.wtbbl.org and use the online public access catalog;
- Call 206-615-0400 or toll free at 1-800-542-0866 and leave a voice mail message or send an e-mail to wtbbl@wtbbl.org with book or information requests.
