The Gangs of New York : An Informal History Of The Underworld by Herbert Asbury. Chronicles the crime permeating New York City in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Includes the history of such notorious neighborhoods as Hell's Kitchen, and Five Points. Cassette book RC 55088.

Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil: A Savannah Story by John Berendt. A travelogue of 1980s Savannah, Georgia, combined with the tale of an antiques dealer shooting his lover and being acquitted after his fourth trial. Cassette book RC 38077. Braille book BR 11463. Large print book LP 12421.

The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean. The author describes traveling to Florida to meet accused orchid thief Johyn Laroche after she became intrigued by a news item on his arrest. Cassette book RC 48462. Large print book LP 16034.

Hurricane: The Miraculous Journey Of Rubin Carter by James S. Hirsch. In 1966, boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was arrested for the murder of three white men in New Jersey . Hirsch recounts Carter's relentless efforts to prove his innocence. Cassette book RC 49829. Large print book LP 17211.
