Washington State Agencies Serving Individuals with Disabilities

University of Washington DO-IT Project

The University of Washington provides a publication listing Internet resources of potential interest to people who have disabilities or who are interested in disability-related issues. Resources listed include LISTSERV and LISTPROC discussion lists, electronic newsletters, newsgroup discussion groups, bulletin board systems accessible via telnet, World Wide Web (WWW) homepages, and gopher servers.

 

Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted

Founded as a non-profit in 1965,  CSBPS has developed as the Northwest's leading vision rehabilitation agency.  This organization works with individuals, families, and communities to restore, maintain, and enhance the independence and well-being of people with impaired vision and specializes in working with age-related vision loss.

This site features hundreds of useful products available from SightConnection, the specialty store developed by  CSBPS.  It offers secure on-line transactions for a broad selection of items designed to support the independence and well-being of people with impaired vision.  Proceeds go to support programs provided by this Seattle-based agency.  Customers are welcome to visit the SightConnection retail store at agency headquarters in north Seattle.  Call 206-525-5556 for directions.

Washington Instructional Resource Center for the Visually Impaired

The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) is responsible for locating and distributing educational materials for children with visual impairments in the state of Washington. The center provides a single point of contact for schools and agencies requiring resources for these students.
